We thank everyone for attending this 3rd edition of the annual Westside Classic. Over 300 riders competed on an exciting course,
making this event one of the best ever.
We acknowledge that it was not possible to accurately provide race
results for some riders.
However, dealing with bunch finishes in road races is a complicated
task. In the case of the category 4/5 race and the men's masters race,
the bunch did not break up appreciably through the course of the
event, meaning that roughly 80% of the field crossed the finish line
within a time period of about 10 seconds. Within these fields, it was
not possible for us to identify some riders, even with two photo
finish cameras and several Commissaires. One of the main causes for
this is riders' placement of their number panels.
Compiling road race results is a bit like putting together a jig-saw
puzzle; information is compiled and rationalized from several
different sources in order to build a complete picture of what
happened. When information is missing, the task becomes much harder.
We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and will try to
correct any errors from our side.
